sheriff-weekly-update

Citizens can always rely on the Carbon County Sheriff weekly update to share important safety tips that relate to what is going on in the area which currently is Open Burn Season.

“We want to let people know if you’re a farmer that wants to burn your field off, you need to contact dispatch to find out if that’s an open burn day,” stated Wood. “We’re very concerned with the dry conditions that we have this year. If you do choose to burn stuff like that and be very, very careful and be prepared.” Any person whose is reckless in letting their fire get out of control and causes damage to any property could be held liable. If the fire happens to get out of control on the owner’s property, they could face paying the expense of responders attending to the call. Depending on the situation there is a possibility that the individual could face criminal charges. Citizens should know that the Bureau of Land Management is taking a very strict stance on any damages caused on their land.

Folks should be aware that the weekend weather is showing storms making their way to the Castle Country area. “Just be careful out there. There are still potential for getting stuck in the shaded areas on the roads. You know the snow is getting to the point, where it’s kind of I call it, rotten snow, where you fall through it basically,” stated Wood. The winter season in our area has not been typical which causes for unpredictable weather and changing terrain at any given time.

The upcoming weekend will have many events taking place for community members. Law Enforcement will be out to interact with the public at some of these activities. Take time to tell them thanks for a job well done.
