A two-run third inning was enough to lift the Carbon Dinos past the Mountain View Bruins 2-1 Tuesday afternoon in Orem.

“I was proud of the way we played in the win,” said manager Jeff Cisneros. “Our defense and pitching really shined and I think that’s indicative of the final score.”

Zac Bradley struck out three batters and pitched four no-hit innings to record the win on the hill. Collin Lewis and Braxton Bennett both worked in relief to help secure the win.

As a team the Dinos allowed seven hits and combined for seven strikeouts. In the field the team played error free baseball.

“Zac pitched four solid innings and Mountain View’s pitcher was very similar,” Cisneros said. “We did leave some runners on base just about every inning, and that’s something that we have to work on moving forward.”

Cesar Laya finished 1-3 at the plate and registered an RBI to push the Carbon offense. Ty Anderson finished 1-2 with a single, walk, run and RBI. The team’s third hit went to Nate Olson who delivered a single.

Tuesday’s win moves Carbon to 3-3 on the year and marks the fifth game against an opponent that is in a higher classification.

The Dinos will now take the next two days off before returning to the field with a lengthy road trip to Blanding for three games in two days. Friday the Dinos will meet San Juan, before returning meeting Summit Academy and Grand on Saturday.
