The Emery Spartans won for the sixth consecutive time Wednesday afternoon, edging the Union Cougars 4-3 in a non region contest in Castle Dale.

Accumulating six hits throughout the contest, the Spartans again managed to control the contest defensively. Wednesday’s win comes after the region opening shutout victory over the Grand Red Devils on Tuesday.

Junior Jace Collard threw a solid 6.1 innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs, while also striking out two. Cade Brazier recorded the final two outs, giving up just one hit to record the save in the one-run win.

Senior Easton Gordon finished 2-3 at the plate with two singles and one RBI. Jared Snow ended 2-2 with an RBI, while also scoring a run. Colten Willson notched another RBI, adding to his team high seven for the season.

Emery will now take Thursday off before returning to region play Friday on the road against the Grand Red Devils in Moab.
