The 19th Annual Pinnacle Schools Annual Wild West Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, March 24 beginning at 10:00 am with various family events taking place at the school which is located at 210 North 600 East in Price. The school is one of the founding charter schools in Utah and operate as a public K-12 grade school.
The fundraiser has several activities returning like the 5K Fun Run, horseshoe tournament, kids carnival, silent auction and concessions. “We are going to add some teen events this year; we’re going to add batting cages, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a little bit of line dancing,” stated Downard. The new events are not strictly for teens but for adults who wish to participate.
The 5K Fun Run will cost $10.00 per runner with registration set to begin at 9:30 am and the race is set to start at 10:00 am. The cost to participate in the horseshoe tournament will be $20.00 per team with registration at 11:30 am and start at 12:00 pm. The 3-on-3 basketball tournament will have the same registration and start time as horseshoes but with the cost of $30.00 per team.
School officials limit their fundraising to one major event each year and that is the Wild West Fundraiser. “So, the main goal is to raise funds for our fifth-grade class to go to Washington DC. Every fifth grader that wants to go, their parents have to work a certain amount of hours, raise a certain amount of funds. Then those funds help pay for the students’ way on that trip,” said Ashley Downard, Event Organizer. This is an educational, once in a lifetime experience that correlates with the student’s history curriculum. The students raise money for their trip in the spring and take the trip in the fall. This year the trip will be provided for 24 students.
