Unable to hold off a late run the Carbon Lady Dinos suffered their first region loss of the season 5-4 to the Union Cougars Tuesday afternoon in Roosevelt.

Entering with a perfect 2-0 division record, the Lady Dinos captured a 3-1 lead with a three run sixth inning. The lead extended to three in the top of the seventh, but a late run by Union forced the game into extra innings.

After failing to score in the top half of the eighth, Carbon eventually surrendered the contest as Union plated one run in the bottom the same inning. The setback ends a two-game winning streak overall and puts Carbon in a second place tie with the Cougars.

Despite the loss Carbon pitcher Brooke Moosman delivered a stellar effort on the hill, allowing just nine hits and four earned runs in the complete game.

Senior Kelsey Sorenson finished 2-4 at the plate registering two singles and one RBI. Lyndsey Madrigal also finished 2-4, knocking a triple, single and one RBI. Clarissa Noyes and Dekota Kraushaar also brought in one run each.

Tuesday set back will mark the final game of the month of March. The Lady Dinos will return to the field on Tuesday, April 3 with a trip to South Sevier. The region season will continue at home on April 5 against Delta.
