Cody Lowe and Triton Abeyta combined to allow just one hit as the Carbon Dinos blasted the Emery Spartans 16-0 in five innings Wednesday night in Helper.

Meeting for the only time this season at the varsity level, Carbon wasted little time jumping out to a hefty advantage, scoring eight runs in the opening inning. The offense continued to roll as the team posted one in the second and seven more in the fourth, leading to the mercy rule win.

Lowe pitched two innings, allowing no hits while striking out three and walking one. Triton Abeyta finished the contest by striking out one and allowing just one hit three innings.

Anthony Jones led the offensive explosion for Carbon finishing 2-3 with two doubles and three RBI’s. Nate Olson, Collin Lewis and Jadon Robertson all ended with two hits and two RBI’s. Eight different players brought in at least one run.

For Emery Wednesday’s loss marks the largest margin of defeat and the fewest hits in an individual game this season. It also comes following Tuesday’s win over division foe San Juan, which improved the team to 2-3 in division play.

Carbon will now take the remainder of the week off before returning to the field on Tuesday, April 3 for a home region match with Delta.

Emery will next play San Juan at home on Friday in the final meeting of the season between the two schools.
