Kaytlyn Cripps blasted three home runs as the Carbon Lady Dinos eased past the Delta Rabbits 18-0 on the softball field Thursday afternoon in Price.
Winning for the fourth time in five tries, Carbon wasted little time jumping ahead with a six run first inning. The heavy offensive production continued with three runs in the second, and nine more in the third to close out the game.
Cripps launched a home run in each of her three plate appearances, accumulating seven RBI’s in the process. The three home runs give Cripps a team best seven so far in the 2018 season.
Senior Kelsey Sorenson went 3-3 with three singles in the blowout win. Makenna Pendergrass, Brooke Moosman and Dekota Kraushaar all recorded two RBI’s a piece.
Moosman dominated on the mound, allowing no hits with three strikeouts and two walks in a complete three-inning effort. With help from the defense Moosman faced only two batters twice, working through the lineup with relative ease.
Thursday’s win improves Carbon to 3-1 in Region 14 and 10-3 overall. The loss keeps Delta in the division’s basement, dropping their league mark to 0-4.
The Lady Dinos will now prepare for a weekend tournament in Payson. Tuesday the team will travel on the road for an important region tilt against unbeaten Juab.
