The Emery Spartans snapped a two-game losing skid with a 7-2 victory over the Manti Templars Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.
Cade Brazier delivered a complete game gem, allowing just six hits and recording five strikeouts in the win. After allowing one run in both the second and third innings, Brazier shutdown the Templars in the final four frames to help record the win.
Recording just four hits as a team the Spartans managed to take advantage of eight Manti errors. Making the most of the opportunities presented, Emery logged six RBIs at the plate.
Koda Alton finished 1-2 at the plate, knocking the team’s only extra base hit with a triple, to go along with one RBI. Colton Willson, Jesse Barnett, and Brazier all hit one single.
Despite recording a hit senior Easton Gordon delivered two RBIs in Tuesday’s win. In 14 games this season Gordon has accumulated a .475 batting average in 51 plate appearances to go along with eight RBIs.
Tuesday’s win moves Emery to 3-4 in Region 15 play, placing them fourth in the division standings. Manti remains in last place with a 1-5 mark following the loss.
The Spartans will return to the field on Wednesday for a non-league meeting with American Leadership Academy on the road. Friday Emery will again meet the Templars, this time in Manti, to close out the season series.
