After securing victories over Richfield and North Sanpete last week the Emery Spartans have positioned themselves to claim the Region 15 crown.
Currently sitting 4-1-1 in league action, the Spartans are one game up on both Grand and Manti in the loss column. With only four games left in the regular season, Emery will meet both teams one more time.
Recording four wins in five games Emery appears to be playing its best soccer of the season. The team’s last three wins, which came over Richfield, North Sanpete and South Sevier, came be a combined score of 8-1.
Emery will resume league competition on Tuesday with a trip to Monroe to face South Sevier. The first meeting of the season between the two teams ended in a blowout as the Spartans cruised to a 5-0 win.
The second game of the week will pit Emery against Grand, the only division team to defeat Emery this season. Unable to find any rhythm offensively the Spartans were shutout 1-0 in the setback. Thursday’s game will take place in Castle Dale.
