Emery County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Lockdown Drill at Ferron Elementary on Thursday morning with four personnel from ECSO and one individual from Emery Medical Center responding to the training.
The school had ECSO Detective Division visit classrooms the day before to explain to the students what to expect during the drill. They stressed to each student the importance of following directions during the mock lockdown/evacuation.
Principal Brian Dawes placed a 9-1-1 call on Thursday morning reporting an unwelcome person in the school, and law enforcement quickly responded. The school was immediately placed on lockdown, the building searched, and the classrooms evacuated. ECSO was very impressed with how well-trained the staff and students were in this type of scenario.
ECSO was appreciative to everyone at Ferron Elementary for allowing them to train at their school.
