The Emery Lady Spartans captured a second place finish Wednesday afternoon in a Region 15 meet at the Hideout Golf Course in Monticello.

Fresh off of a third place performance at their home course in Millsite on April 12, the Lady Spartans improved their overall team score by 20 strokes to fire a 223. Richfield ran away with the event as they finished with a 181.

Grand ended in third with a 224, followed by Manti’s 236 and San Juan’s 239. South Sevier and North Sanpete rounded out the field of seven.

Senior Lainee Jensen continued to lead the Lady Spartans with a low round of 50. Both Kayla Winn and Sydney Alton finished with a 56, while Angie Nielson delivered a 61.

The most recent performance keeps the Lady Spartans comfortably in second place, while Richfield has developed a massive lead for first. Grand is currently the region’s third place squad.

The golf season will continue for the entire region with a trip to Palisades, the home course of the Manti Templars, on April 26. Next week’s meet will set the stage for the region finale on April 30 at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course.
