The Carbon Dinos continued to roll through division competition with a 12-1 victory over the American Leadership Academy Eagles Friday afternoon in Helper.
It took just 4 ½ innings for the Dinos to defeat the Eagles as the offense logged at least one run in each of their four sets of at bats. The win completes a season-series sweep of ALA, while also giving the Dinos control of Region 14.
Cody Lowe delivered a gem on the mound, giving up just one earned run and four hits, while also striking out eight in a complete game effort. The win improves Lowe’s record to 5-0 on the mound in nine starts this season.
Nate Olson finished 1-2 at the plate, registering two of Carbon’s nine RBIs for the game. Anthony Jones finished hit-less, but managed to bring in two runs. Seven different players brought in at least one earned run.
Friday’s win, coupled with a Juab loss, gives the Dinos sole possession of first place in Region 14 with only two games remaining on the slate.
Carbon will have an opportunity to clinch the region championship at home Tuesday afternoon against Juab. A loss would mean the Region title will be determined Friday in Nephi.
