The Carbon Dinos clinched the Region 14 championship with a 6-3 wire-to-wire win over the Juab Wasps Friday afternoon in Nephi.

Cody Lowe delivered a complete game gem, moving to 6-0 on the mound in ten starts this season. Dominating with nine strikeouts, Lowe allowed just five hits, two earned runs and one walk. All three Juab runs were plated in the second inning.

Entering Friday’s contest the Dinos shared an identical 8-1 record with Juab after suffering a loss at home earlier in the week. The region crown is the program’s first since 2010.

Offensively the Dinos opened the game with two runs in the top of the first inning and added two more in the second. Juab managed to get back within one run in the second, but the Dinos answered with one more in the third and another in the sixth.

Zac Bradley was perfect at the plate for Carbon, finishing a perfect 4-4 in the batter’s box. Lowe added two hits in three plate appearances, also logging one RBI. Nate Olson also finished 1-3 with a double and one RBI.

With the region crown now secured the Dinos will meet the Desert Hills Thunder in an exhibition contest on Tuesday in the regular season finale.

Saturday Carbon will play host to the No. 2 and 6 seeds from Region 15, as well as Morgan, the No. 4 seed from Region 13 in the opening two rounds of the 3A State Championship Tournament.
