The Emery Spartans wrapped up the home portion of the regular season baseball schedule with a 7-2 victory over the North Sevier Wolves Friday afternoon.
Playing for the final time in front of the hometown crowd this season, the Spartans were delivered one of their best offensive performances in the month of April. After falling behind 2-0 in the top half of the first, Emery responded with four runs in the bottom half to take the lead for good.
Koda Alton recorded the win on the mound, recording four innings of one hit ball to go along with eight strikeouts. Easton Gordon received three innings of work, allowing just two hits and also striking out eight.
Alton’s success trickled over on offense as well as he finished 1-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Colten Wilson ended 1-4 and also logged two RBIs. Gordon led the team with two hits, both of which were singles, while also scoring two runs.
Friday’s non-region win moves Emery to 11-10 overall as the team remains 4-7 in region play.
Currently sitting fifth in Region 15 the Spartans will wrap up the regular season with a league road tilt against the Richfield Wildcats Tuesday afternoon. Emery has already solidified a playoff spot, but has an opportunity to climb up to the No. 4 seed with a win.
