The Utah Foster Care agency has been selected by Castle Country Radio as May’s Charity of the Month which is fitting considering they are hosting Asking a Foster Parent Luncheon on Tuesday, May 8 at 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at their office located at 475 West Price River Drive Suite #152.

“At the event, we’re going to have foster families there that have been providing care for children in our communities for several years,” said Utah Foster Care Lead Consultant, Kobi Prettyman. “There’s a lot of difficult things that people kind of toy around in their mind with about why they may want to or why they don’t become a foster parent and so this is an opportunity to get all those questions answered.” The luncheon is a great chance for guests to hear and speak with local foster parents about the rewards and challenges of caring for children they have fostered in their homes.

“At any given time have about 100 children in Foster Care in Carbon and Emery Counties. So, we are always needing families to care for the kids that need a safe place to be while their parents are working on improving their situation,” stated Prettyman.

The impact that foster parents can make can be such a blessing for these children through offering them stability, a daily routine and/or just making sure that their basics needs are met so they don’t have to worry about day to day life at home. If a child does return to their family it’s because progress has been made by the parents. This can be a rewarding experience for all parties involved.

The Utah Foster Care office in Price serves the communities in Carbon, Emery, Daggett, Duchesne, Uintah, Grand and San Juan counties. The need for foster parents in these areas is great to help, heal and enrich the lives of abused or neglected children.
