The Helper First Friday event has a unique theme this month, “Cinco de May the Fourth Be With You” which is a combination to recognize Cinco de Mayo and Star Wars Day. The monthly event will take place on Friday, May 4 at 6:00 pm on Helper’s Historic Main Street.
Event organizers encourage members of the community to wear their best combination of Cinco de Mayo and Star Wars attire for a chance to win cold hard cash. The judging will take place at the K-2 Gallery at 102 South Main Street from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one man, women and child will be chosen.
There will be lots of authentic Hispanic music and dancing, plus the usual gallery drink stroll along Main Street. Lots of delicious festive food from Balance Rock Eatery and Pub, Marsha’s Sammich Shop and What Are You Smoking? There will also be several other vendors to enjoy that will be set up along Main Street.
Fierce MMA & Fitness will conduct a Jedi Training for all the youngsters and Bar Wars Competition for the Jedi and Dark Side adults. This will take place in front of Clear Creek Adventures located at 110 South Main Street.
Three Little Llamas and The Kids Station will have several children’s activities at their location of 208 South Main Street. There will be a chance for kids to decorate maracas, play cactus ring toss, Star Wars piñatas. The crafts and activities are sponsored by The Helper Project. Students from Bruin Point Elementary will have an Art Show at 154 South Main with lots of snacks and a surprise kid’s art project will be made available to enjoy.
