The Desert Thunder Raceway has canceled its set of races scheduled for Friday and Saturday because of the rain that has appeared in the weekend forecast.

Set to host the third of a scheduled four race set this weekend, the cancellation is the first in years for the track. The announcement was made official VIA Desert Thunder Raceway’s Facebook page Wednesday morning.

“Due to all circumstances surrounding the rain this weekend we are canceling the races (Friday and Saturday),” stated track owner Harvey Howard. “This should give everyone time to cancel motels and make different plans to race somewhere else.”

Howard also stated the races would look to be reschedule as soon as possible.

After hosting races in both April and May the track currently has just one set of races scheduled as the annual Castle Country Clash returns in September.
