Let the school districts in Carbon and Emery help serve your child a healthy and nutritious meal over the summer break. The Summer Lunch Programs will start on June 4, with Carbon running through till August 17 and Emery ending on July 20. Our region is considered an economic disadvantage area so there are several sites available in both districts to visit for lunch.

Carbon School District has several sites to accommodate children and families. The sites at Bruin Point, Creekview and Sally Mauro Elementary are open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Wellington City Park will be the location for any children in that area with lunch served Monday through Friday 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Castle Valley Center is the only site that will offer both breakfast and lunch during the summer months. Breakfast is only scheduled for 30 minutes and set to begin at 8:30 am till 9:00 am, lunch is from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The cost is free for children under the age of 18 years of age and adults may eat for $4.00, there will also be baby food available upon request.

The Emery School District lunch program will only run till July 20 with serve lunch weekdays from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm at Castle Dale Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, Cottonwood Elementary in Orangeville, Ferron Elementary, Huntington Elementary and Book Cliff Elementary in Green River. Any children under the age of 18 years of age will eat free and adults may eat for $4.50. Funding for the program is based on how many meals are served so it’s important for families to take advantage of the free summer lunch program. The program coordinators want to ensure that no child goes hungry this summer.

As per federal guidelines meals are not “grab-n-go” they must be consumed on site. Anyone and everyone ages 18 and under can eat for free and guests do not have to be from our county to benefit from this program.

Lunch items will vary and will range from chicken nuggets, pizza rippers, nachos, orange chicken, chicken legs, cheeseburgers etc. Kids will have three choices, at least until the kitchen starts running out of the most popular choice for that day. Kitchen staff try to prepare enough but don’t want to over prepare. Children and families are encouraged to arrive early to the sites due to the fact that meals are served for a set amount of time.
