Price will open the American Legion baseball season Wednesday with a home double-header against Helper at the USU Eastern baseball complex.
Led once again by manager Willie Ellington, the Price Raptors will once again compete against familiar opponents throughout the season, including Dixie, St. George, Roosevelt and others. The season will run throughout the month’s of June and July.
Tryouts for the Price squad ran from May 11 throughout the remainder of the month. The sessions gave Ellington proper time to field a team that he believes will possess chemistry heading into the season.
“I’m really optimistic about the team this year, and the number of kids at tryouts has been great,” said Ellington. “The reason I started tryouts so early is so the kids who didn’t play high school ball can get a bit of an edge.”
Other key dates on the schedule include the home finale on July 14 against Vernal and the American Legion State Tournament beginning on July 19.
