Carbon High School seniors Kelsey Sorenson and Cali Fossat have earned first team 3A All-State selections for their contributions to the Lady Dinos softball team during the 2018 season.
Playing second base in the field, Sorenson batted a hefty .646 in 92 plate appearances throughout the season. Adding to the impressive offensive numbers, Sorenson led the team in on-base-percentage at .721.
Fossat proved to be one of the most prolific hitters in all of the classification, knocking 12 home runs to help garner a first team selection. Finishing with 30 RBIs and five doubles, Fossat’s 1.117 slugging-percentage topped all Carbon batters.
Senior shortstop McKenna Pendergrass and junior Kaytlyn Cripps were both named to the second team All-State.
Pendergrass batted .481 during the season, tallying 37 hits, 31 RBIs and 30 runs. Pendergrass was top four in nearly every major statistical category for the Lady Dinos.
Cripps played multiple positions, but made double-digit appearances on the pitcher’s mound. At the plate she also accumulated a .481 batting average with 38 hits and 32 RBIs.
Junior Dekota Kraushaar and freshman Lyndsey Madrigal were both named as Honorable mentions.
The 3A All-State teams were selected by each of the coaches in the classification and the Deseret News selects a MVP from the group.
