The USU Eastern women’s basketball program completed a three-day camp for children in the local area Wednesday afternoon at the B-DAC in Price.

Led by head coach Chelsey Warburton and assistant coach Morgan Nelson, the camp was open to both boys and girls in grades 1-8 and divided into two separate sessions.

“The kids looked like they had fun and they talked like they had fun,” said women’s head basketball coach Chelsey Warburton. “We can relax and watch the little ones play basketball, so we really enjoy it.”

The three day camp focused on skill development, basic fundamentals and speed drills. The annual event is something that the program would like to turn into a fun-filled tradition.

“Every year we have had an increase in numbers,” said Warburton. “We just like to teach them the basics of basketball and how to enjoy the game.”

The youth camp was held just one week following a high school team camp that featured 11 schools from June 11-14. Emery High School was among the group of teams in action and once again finished the local camp unbeaten.

Monday the Lady Eagles will play host to the Elite Camp, geared towards girls in grades 8-12. The two day clinic will focus on player development with position specific coaching, elite level drills, competitions and more.
