The Helper Merchants scored 10 runs in the second inning to power past Springville 14-1 in five innings Wednesday evening at Ernie Gardner Field in Helper.

Zac Bradley earned the win on the mound after allowing just one hit in three innings of work. Collin Lewis recorded the final six outs for Helper, striking out four batters and allowing one run.

After a scoreless first frame the Merchants took complete control in the second. The offensive onslaught continued in the fourth as Helper added four more runs. Springville avoided the shutout by scoring one run in the top of the fifth.

Triton Abeyta knocked a single and triple to record a team high six RBIs. Braxton Bennett and Jayden Flemmett each registered two RBI’s, while Ty Anderson, Zac Bradley and Nate Olson all finished with one.

The win moves Helper to 5-2 in Southern Division play and halts a two-game losing skid in the process. After starting the league season 4-0 Helper suffered two losses on the road this past Saturday.

Helper will now prepare for a busy weekend that includes three games in two days. Friday’s slate features a home tilt with St. George at 7:30 p.m.. Helper will then meet Skyridge and Skyline Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m..
