Carbon County Sheriff’s Office notified community members via Facebook that Carbon County SR6 Eastbound traffic lanes are open. Westbound lanes will be open at approximately 4:00 pm. Please continue to use the utmost caution while navigating through this area as it is still a construction area and there are uneven lanes.
Response efforts are continuing down river. Hard booms have replaced the soft booms put in last night. These booms help control the flow of the crude oil, making it easier to divert the oil to a containable area where it can be cleared out of the river and disposed of properly. There are currently 4 tiers of booms for a length of 3 miles. The EPA and DEQ are still on site and will be the final dictator of the cleanup effort.
CCSO thanks the public for their cooperation and consideration in this effort.
