The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce has a busy end of the summer schedule and have penciled in some upcoming fall events.
“On August 16 is the Snapshot Passport BBQ Party. Which you know I’m sure everybody has heard of the Snapshot Passport going around this summer that every student in Carbon County School District, Pinnacle and some homeschool moms have picked up for their kids that gave kids something to do throughout the summer,” said Deserae Stevenson, Executive Chamber Coordinator. The event will be held at Washington Park from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm where free hot dogs will be served.
The passport was sent home at the end of the school year and contains information on businesses that help support the chamber. This gave the youngest citizens in the community an opportunity to complete various activities while documenting them with a picture or selfie.
“The next thing that we have for the chamber is the Tavaputs Ranch Retreat which we do every year. You do need a four-wheel drive vehicle if you don’t have one we can carpool with other people. So, you will have to RSVP by the 21st of August because we will be leaving on the 25th,” said Stevenson. The group will meet at the Carbon County Administration Building at 751 East 100 North at 8:00 am and return to town approximately 5:00 pm. The day will consist of tours of the ranch, information about the business aspect of the ranch, enjoy a delicious homecooked lunch and the picturesque scenery is a perfect opportunity to socialize with one another outside of business.
For the month of August and September, the chamber is looking to host a membership drive. The benefits of becoming a member are very rewarding as Stevenson explains, “Connecting with other business owners and just having that networking, I think that is number one. The second thing is we do training, whether its customer service or it’s HR, you know it varies from all kinds of different things, so we do training for your employees for you.” Another service they offer is a Hiring Board where they assist businesses that are looking to hire, plus members can obtain a business benefit card where they are able to receive discounts at other businesses.
Any new merchants/businesses, individuals that would like to register for the Tavaputs Ranch Retreat or would like to become a chamber member can contact the office at 435-637-2788 or stop by their office.
