The Miss Carbon County Scholarship Organization will hold their Contestant Orientation meeting on Saturday, August 18 at the Castleview Hospital South Entrance classroom. Any and all participants along with their parents interested in the Miss Carbon County Outstanding Teen will meet at 1:00 pm and Miss Carbon County will meet at 2:30 pm.

There are certain age requirements for constantans interested in the Outstanding Teen category. “We encourage all teens in the county to come see what the pageant is all about, it’s a great experience for all girls, 13 to 17,” stated Miss Carbon Outstanding Teen Director, Merilyn Tubbs. Young ladies must be 13 to 17 years of age, being 13 years of age before October 28 and not 18 years old on or before July 31, also contestants may not have graduated from high school before the start of the Miss America Outstanding Teen National Finals unless approved to graduate early. They must be a current resident of Carbon County for at least six months and enrolled in and attending school full-time in an accredited program including public, private and homeschooling.

The orientation meeting for both Outstanding Teen and Miss Carbon County is a great opportunity for the organization to share general information with potential contestants. “So, kind of the same thing, just phases of competition, age requirements – which are 17 to 25 years old and anyone who’s in that age group can come and talk to us and just see if it’s something that you’d be interested in because it is a great opportunity,” said Miss Carbon County Director, Kylie Howes. Young women must be a least a high school senior, a current resident of Carbon County and have lived in Utah the last six months or completed at least one semester as a full-time student, which is 12 plus credit hours. Must currently be enrolled and attending classes as a full-time student at USU Eastern. A contestant cannot have been married, have a child and/or convicted of any crime.

Being a part of the Miss Carbon County Organization will prepare all contestants with various workshops during the month of September to prepare for the pageant on October 6. The organization is a branch program from the Miss Utah Organization and the Miss America Organization. The program exists to provide personal and professional opportunities for young women to promote their voices and talent in their community.
