A community meeting was held on Tuesday evening with representatives from the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team, forest personnel from both the Manti-LaSal and Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests, and cooperating state and county officials to answer any questions the public may have had about the Coal Hollow Fire.

Officials stated at the meeting that the plan is to reopen U.S. Highway 6 with a speed limit of 45 miles per hour through the canyon. Drivers need to know that the speed limit will be strictly enforced. It’s very important that drivers proceed through the canyon with extreme caution as there are several firefighters working closely to the road as they fight the wildfire that was started on August 4 by lightning and has consumed 22,178 acres.
