The Carbon Lady Dinos breezed past the Union Cougars 5-1 in the Region 14 opener Tuesday afternoon in Roosevelt.

Grace Broadbear logged a hat trick and Ryan Brady found the back of the net twice to pace the high powered Carbon offense to victory. Goalkeeper Ronni Williams allowed one goal in the first half, but kept the Cougars scoreless over the final period of play.

Entering league play with a 2-1 non-region record, the Lady Dinos dominated the Cougars in the first half. Holding a 4-1 lead at the break, the second half was mere formality.

Now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in league play, Carbon will return to the field on Thursday in a pivotal home match against the Providence Hall Patriots at 4:00 p.m.. Also opening up region play Tuesday afternoon, the Patriots squeaked by Maeser Prep 3-2.
