Carbon County Senior Center is looking to have a great time during the month of September as they will hosting their second annual “When Pies Fly” event. This year it is scheduled for September 19 at 1:00 pm at the Senior Center located at 450 South Fairgrounds Way. This event helps to generate funds to be used towards various activities for the local senior citizens.
“It’s just a small fundraiser for us, the first time we did it was last year and it was so much fun and we decided to do it again this year,” said Director Debby Kobe. “So, our tickets are a $1.00 a piece or you can get six for $5.00 and whoever gets the most gets the first pie thrown at them and then we draw ten more and those are the people who get pies thrown at them. So, there is a chance they won’t even get a pie but its pretty slim.” Any spectators that have a favorite candidate or dignitary may purchase a pie for $5.00 to give it a shot. Tickets may be purchased at either the Senior Center or look for them with a table set up on upcoming Saturdays in September at Lin’s Fresh Market and Smith’s Food and Drug.
This year’s “When Pies Fly” event will feature current candidates seeking county seats in the upcoming general election. Scheduled to appear is Sulika Merrell, Seth Marsing, John Jones and Tony Martines. Returning this year for all the fun and quite frankly was the number one pick last year is Sheriff Jeff Wood who’s bringing along Commissioner Casey Hopes and representing the Senior Center this year is Tammy Vea. Don’t miss all the laughs and good time at this free public event.
