The Carbon Dinos increased their overall Region 14 lead past the 100-stroke mark with another outstanding performance, this time at the Ranches Golf Club Tuesday afternoon in Eagle Mountain.

Ending with a team score of 319, the Dinos finished 40-strokes better than second place Providence Hall. Union finished third with a 359, followed by Delta’s 360. Juab compiled a 377 for fifth, while American Leadership and Maeser Prep rounded out the field of seven.

Nick Olson continued to show rapid improvement as he delivered a team low 78 to lead the Dinos. Carson Martines shot a solid 79, while Brady Gagon and Kayden Slavensky recorded the third and fourth scores with an 81.

Barring a catastrophic collapse, the team will once again claim the Region 14 crown. Entering Tuesday’s meet with a hefty 62-stroke lead, Carbon has now extended its advantage to a 103-strokes with only two meets remaining.

Carbon will next travel to the Canyon Hills Golf Course, the home site of the Juab Wasps, on Thursday, Sept. 13. The regional finale will follow five days late at Fox Hollow.

Stay tuned to Castle Country Radio as Carbon golf coach Brett Johnson will make an appearance on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports Friday afternoon to discuss the team’s latest performance.
