The Carbon Lady Dinos opened up Region 14 play with a three set victory over the Maeser Prep Lions Tuesday night at Carbon High School.

Holding the lead for much of the night, the Lady Dinos worked vigorously to earn the three game sweep 25-23, 25-13 and 25-20. Tuesday’s tilt was also the first region game under head coach Teresa Mower.

“Overall, I’m happy with the win at home in three games,” said Mower. “We need to project a little bit
more and we definitely improve on our game where we just better and better.”

The win marks the second consecutive for Carbon after the team defeated Altamont last Tuesday. The Lady Dinos also recently participated in a St. George Tournament Aug. 24 and 25.

Carbon will continue region play with a road contest Thursday against the Juab Wasps. After suffering a loss to Delta last week, Juab improved to 1-1 in region action with a straight sets sweep over Providence Hall Tuesday night.

“Overall I’m excited,” said Mower. “I’m excited to go in and see Juab on Thursday and we plan on taking care of business then too.”
