Price City Police Department is investigating an incident after a mother notified authorities that her nine-year-old daughter was approached by a suspicious male in front of their home on Tuesday evening.

According to Price City Police Department, the unidentified man walked up the driveway towards the nine-year-old child who was outside playing. The child didn’t recognize the man so she got scared and ran inside her house. The man never made any physical contact nor did he converse with the child which was later determined when officers spoke with the child and mother.

After the child told her mother of the incident, she then jumped in her vehicle where she proceeded to follow the man as he made his way walking along 300 East towards 400 East. It was shortly after she had taken the individual’s picture to give to police officers that the individual was approached by a white Chevy Malibu where he then jumped inside and drove away. Officers arrived and searched the area for nearly an hour trying to locate the individual.

The incident made its way around social media startling many parents in the area. “It appears nothing criminal took place and the encounter could rise to a suspicious person investigation,” stated Captain Barnes. It is likely that the individual was “staking out houses” in lieu of recent break-ins around town.

However, officers would still like to find out who the individual is and what his intentions were in that neighborhood. “I appreciate that citizens are keeping an eye out for each other and in reporting suspicious activities in their neighborhoods,” said Barnes. It’s through public efforts that make for effective means in preventing crimes and making positive changes in the neighborhood.
