The Carbon Dinos delivered a spirited effort, but ultimately fell short in a 41-21 loss to the Ogden Tigers Friday night at Ogden High School.
In search of their first victory of the season, the Dinos had multiple opportunities to capture a second half lead. Two Ogden third quarter touchdowns created space between the two squads before an even fourth quarter.
Carbon fullback Colin Lewis accumulated 175 all purpose yards to lead the Carbon offense. Ryker Larsen and Ridic Migliori helped pace steady production as second and third options out of the backfield.
Despite Friday’s loss the Carbon offense delivered its highest point total of the season by scoring three touchdowns. After scoring just 22 points in the first two outings of the season head coach Josh Huntsman added a wrinkle to the playbook.
In the two games since the change the Dinos have scored 33 points, but continue to show marked improvement in yardage efficiency.
Defensively Carbon delivered a stellar performance in the first half action. During the second quarter Ogden started three possessions inside the Carbon 40-yard-line and came away with zero points.
Currently 0-4 on the season, the Dinos will open Region 3A North action Friday on the road against the Union Cougars. In four games this season Union has recorded just one win, a 21-0 week three victory over Uintah.
