A first half surge allowed the Emery Lady Spartans soccer team to remain unbeaten with a 4-2 victory over the Richfield Wildcats Tuesday afternoon in Richfield.

Jumping out to an early 3-0 lead in the first half, the second period of play was a formality. Adding one more goal, the Lady Spartans allowed two. The win moves Emery to 3-0 in Region 15 play and marks the team’s sixth consecutive victory overall.

Alexis Winter continued to dominate offensively for Emery by scoring two goals, running her season total to 14. Morgan Hurdsman and Jocee Funk both found the back of the net once.

As the region season continues to move forward Emery and Manti have continued to separate themselves from the rest of the division. Tied at 3-0 at the top of the region, both teams have accumulated a two game lead in the loss column over third place Richfield.

Emery will return to the field on Thursday at home for a monumental first meeting against Manti. The winner will take over sole possession of first place and have a clear path to a region title.
