The Pole Creek fire was very active today. Despite helicopters and firefighter suppression efforts, a spot fire that crossed Highway 6 this afternoon became established in the Diamond Fork area. The wind and terrain drove this fire approximately 3-miles up the canyon. Highway 6 and Highway 89 will remain closed indefinitely. Updates and further information on the road closures can be found at http://commuterlink.utah.gov/

Fire managers have increased the night crews for suppression operations that are continuing around the clock. Crews will continue aggressive suppression efforts and structure protection, with firefighter and public safety as the primary objective. A Red Flag Warning continues through tomorrow, likely challenging firefighting efforts with continued high winds, warm temperatures, and low humidity.

Great Basin Team 1 (Incident Commander Marty Adell), a Type 1 Incident Management Team, is managing the Pole Creek Fire and fire camp is at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds. A Rocky Mountain Type 1 team (Incident Commander Todd Pechota) assumed command of the Bald Mountain Fire today at 6 AM. Fire camp for this fire is based in Payson City.

Evacuations remain in effect for the northern side of the fire.
