The Emery Spartans continued to show tremendous improvement on the golf course, registering their team best score of the year Monday at Meadow Brook in Taylorsville.

Ending with a team score of 337, the Spartans finished just three strokes behind fourth place North Sanpete. Richfield finished at the top of the leaderboard with a 315, followed by Manti and Grand. San Juan and South Sevier rounded out the field of seven at the bottom.

Oakley Toomer continued to shine for Emery, firing his low individual score of 2-over 74. Shaidyn Killpack and Taylor Lindsey both notched an 83 and Trevin Wakefield finished with a 97.

With only one region meet remaining on the season the Spartans have firmly planted themselves in the No. 5 spot in the Region 15 standings. Trailing North Sanpete by over 100-strokes, Emery now has gathered a 29-stroke lead over sixth place San Juan.

All seven schools will once again travel to the Carbon County Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 24 to finalize the regular season.
