They Helper Project is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the Utah Department of Heritage & Arts for a 2019 exhibition at the Anne Jespersen Fine Arts Gallery celebrating the 150th anniversary of the laying the golden spike at Promontory Point, Utah.

The exhibition is entitled “Spike 150; A contemporary Exhibition of Historic Helper City and the Railroad. The Helper Project is partnering with Donna Poulton, a renowned Utah Art Historian, who will curate and engage with professional artists throughout the State with an emphasis on Carbon County Artists. The inspiration for the artists will be Historic Helper, the Train, the Routes and the Landscape.

The opening will coincide with the Helper’s First Friday Event on May 3, 2019 and will run through August 18, 2019. The exhibition will be one of the major celebratory events taking place throughout the State.
