PRICE – Women’s soccer defeated the Otero Rattlers 4-0 on Saturday in a non-conference game.

Midway through the first half sophomore forward Morgan Hall scored her fourth goal of the season to put the Eagles up 1-0. She got the assist from sophomore McKenna Wiscombe.

It wouldn’t be the last time Hall found the back of the net, she would put in another goal right before halftime with an assist from Madison Nicholls.

“I love Morgan, she played great today and she is always in the rights spots and was able to find herself in front of the net today to put the ball in,” said Wiscombe.

In the second half the Eagles played a little bit flat and didn’t score until the final ten minutes of the game.

“We played a little flat, maybe a little bit down to them. I don’t think it was a great game for us probably had to do with the emotions of the fundraiser going on,” said USU Eastern Head Coach Ammon Bennett.

At halftime the Eagles honored their teammate Sophie Cannon, who has overcame Leukemia, with a special presentation. During the game the Eagles raised money for Cannon and her family.

The Eagles wore special orange uniforms that said #SophieStrong to honor Cannon during the game as well.

“It gave me chills thinking about it right now. Just to have that moment with Sophie and with what she is going through, it feels really good to give her something so little back for what all that she has done for us this season,” said Wiscombe.

With just under 11 minutes to play Wiscombe scored a goal with an assist from Logan Duran to put the game awa

“Before Logan and I went back into the game, Coach Bennett told us to put the game away. So we went out there and Logan killed it on her side and was able to pass it to me and I was able to finish,” said Wiscombe.

Duran would score less than a minute later off an assist from Morgan Cragun to put the exclamation point on the win.

With the win the Eagles now have a 4-2-1 record and snapped a two-game losing streak.

“We gave up too many chances to the other team and were a little lazy on defense but in the end a 4-0 win is a good win for us,” said Bennett.

The Eagles will return to conference play this week by hosting defending conference champion Snow College this upcoming Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s game will kick off at 1 p.m. and will be live streamed on youtube.com/usueastern or live.ksl.com.
