The Carbon Dinos clinched the No. 4 seed in the 3A North region with a 42-28 victory over the Judge Memorial Bulldogs Friday night at home.
Needing a win to prevent a three-way tie for a home playoff contest, the Dinos earned a wire-to-wire victory to finish 2-3 in division play. The two league wins marks the most Carbon has recorded in two decades.
Taking over for injured quarterback Noah Jones, Jaylon Dennis led Carbon in his first full-game as a starter under center. Using both his arm and legs to keep the Judge Memorial defense off balanced, Dennis scored his lone touchdown on a 39-yard run.
Senior Collin Lewis continued to add to his stellar 2018 campaign by scoring three touchdowns on the ground. Lewis has now found the end zone on eight separate occasions this season, leading the team in that category.
