Recently Price City Police Department has found that some citizens are not quite familiar with the details of a few ordinances such as dog licensing, placement of house numbers and property maintenance which has been the biggest concern.

“Price City ordinance requires that all dogs in the city limits of Price be registered with Price City and that can be done at the City Hall in the Utilities Office same place you pay your utilities and other obligations to the city,” stated Patrol Officer David Wilkinson. “If an animal is fixed they are $5.00 a year if they have not been fixed its $25.00 a year. The license are required between January 1 and March 1 of each year and all you need to do is bring your vaccination records and proof they have been fixed to the city hall.”  An owner who fails to obtain a license as required by this section shall be subject to a late fee in addition to the regular license fee.

Another issue that has PCPD is anxious is that there are some residents that do not have house numbers or not noticeable numbers on their homes. “If the numbers aren’t in a visible, conspicuous place and they aren’t bigger than three inches, they are really hard to see from the roadway. Reflective is nice but not required but if I can shine a light at your house in the night sure makes it easy to find you,” stated Wilkinson. This ordinance applies to all owners of every business or dwelling within city limits.

There are have been reports of unclean or untidy yards, alleys, lots and sidewalks around the city. “We have a lovely community and in the last few years, things have become a little unattended. Whether it be because we’re all working so hard or we just don’t know what the obligation is and so the city would like everybody to know that the property owner’s responsibility begins at the roadway and end at the back of their property,” explained Wilkinson. If the homeowner is on a corner lot, they are responsible for all sides of the home including half of an alleyway if that is the case. Price City can hold the occupants, property owner, proper management responsible for being a public nuisance, causing a threat to public health, safety and welfare of the community.
