Carbon School District would like to invite the community out for their Parent Seminar on Youth Protection taking place on October 29 starting at 5:30 pm at the district office located at 251 West 400 North.
“We will offer a free dinner then at 6:00 pm the program will begin. We will have a musical performance from the Carbon School District Rising Raptors,” said Elementary Counselor Amanda Ori. “Some topics will be Suicide Awareness, Bullying, Substance Abuse and Internet Safety. We will have presenters from all over the county basically.” The presenters include Officer Brian Judd with Price City Police Department, Carol Powell and Cacilia Jensen Jensen both with Four Corners Community Behavioral Health.
Carbon School District Rising Raptors is an after-school program that was made possible through a grant that was received three years ago. “Carbon County was one of the counties that were, it’s sad when you say this, we’re deemed as having a great deal on integrational poverty,” stated Director of Student Support Services, Robert Cox. “It gives an after-school program we have in every elementary. There are activities there, musical things there also, but they also dwell on educational aspects, helping students
through intervention in their education, reading and things such as that.” This is a great opportunity for students in the program to show off to parents what they have been learning.
The purpose for the event is to build resilience and strength not only within the district but as a community. For more information about the Family Night contact the Carbon School District Office at 637-1732.
