The Board of Carbon County Commissioners appoints members to a number of boards and/or committees and are currently seeking applications to begin terms on January 1 2019. These boards will advise the County Commissioners on service priorities, how to distribute available resources and how to improve collaboration with the communities within the County.

The Carbon County Weed Board is looking for farmers or ranchers whose primary income is derived from the production of agriculture to fill a four-year term for a regular position.

Carbon County Career Service Council is a five-member bipartisan board, mandated by state law, consists of three regular members and two alternate members. There are two positions to be filled, one regular position with a two-year term and one alternate seat for a one-year term.

The Housing Authority of Carbon County board is looking for a Chair for a four-year term. The individual responsibilities include but not limited to creating policies for financial management, approve budgets and write long-range plans.

Planning Commission board is a seven-member board and looking to fill a seat for a four-year term. This individual will meet monthly to approve land use applications, recommend zoning ordinances and maps to name a few of the duties.

The Recreation Transportation Special Service District has two vacancies for four-year terms to help create policies for financial management and approve budgets including departmental budgets.

Also with two seats with four years, terms is the Scofield Reservoir Special Service District Board which meets quarterly and is responsible for the operation of the sewer systems int eh subdivisions/campsite surround the reservoir. The applicant must be a cabin owner in the Singleton’s Campsite.

The Sheriff’s Merit Board has one regular vacancy with a six-year terms and meetings are held as needed. Interested applicants must be a citizen of Carbon County for not less than five years and hold no other office or county employment.

Water Conservancy board is looking to fill two seats in Division 2 and Division 3 and applicant must reside in those divisions.

Finally, one vacant three-year term seat is available on the Board of Health. Its members are not to be primarily engaged in providing health care to individuals or in the administration of facilities or institutions.
