Emery County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce that Jorgen Allred and Mike Howes recently graduated from Utah Corrections Pre-Service Academy Class #298 on November 8, 2018.

Class 298 selected a class motto of, “Unity, Service, Accountability” Of the 38 who completed the academy, 20 will work in county jails, and 18 will work for the Department of Corrections. The cadets completed 15 weeks of legal classes, defensive tactics, physical fitness training, firearms training and multiple certification exams to graduate with POST certification. During the ceremony, the state’s newest correctional officers heard from Sheriff Chad Jensen of Cache County and Mike Haddon, Executive Director for the Utah Department of Corrections.

Howes began working at ECSO in May of 2018 while Howes was hired in June of the same year and each working in the ECSO Dispatch Center. Both men have now completed the educational requirements and certifications necessary to work as Corrections Officers in the Emery County Jail.

ECSO administration and staff welcome these two new members of law enforcement in Emery County, and thanks to their families for the support given while they were away at training. Townsfolk who see the two deputies around town are asked to congratulate them and wish them the best of luck.
