A chosen daughter of God, our mother, grandmother, and great grandma passed away at Castleview hospital on November 23, 2018, surrounded by family.

Laura Lee Provstgaard Wood was born on January 22, 1940 to the late James Edwin and Eliza Helma (Beth) of Payson, Utah. She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Howard and Sheldon Provstgaard, two sisters Gayle Mattson and Joann Merrywether. Larae Lopez of Tooele is her only living sibling. Mother was also preceded in death by her daughter Marlo Sue Kemple.

Our dear mother was married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 13, 1959 to Paul Ferris Wood of Spanish Fork, Utah. Children include Laurie Kae Fox (Gary) of Huntington, Utah. Darren Paul Wood (Karen & Dave) of Salt Lake City, Utah. Conn James Wood (Carol) of St. George, Utah. The late Marlo Sue Kemple (John) now married to (Mary Kay) of Huntington, Utah.

Mother was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and made a point to never miss any of her church meetings in her youth.  She set an example for all of us as she dedicated her life to God.

Our dear mother was proud of her 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Mother was involved in sports and speech & drama at Payson High School and was recently asked to speak at her 60 year class reunion.

You could always find grandma taking walking excursions to “Singing Rock” where she along with her grandkids buried a time capsule and where they would sing songs. She loved her annual visits to St. George celebrating Halloween, Christmas and New Years.

Mother took to heart the counsel to be self-reliant. She and dad cherished working together in the garden and orchard, bottling everything including the weeds. She took great pride in writing in her daily journal and loved working on her family stories and history. We children, are proud recipients.  Mother was an exceptional conversationalist and always was a good listener.

As children we remember her to be candid, timely and good to give advice and counsel. She gave her all up to the very last breath she took. She is an example of one of God’s daughters who truly endured to the end.

We will always remember her for her valiant effort to minister selflessly alongside the love of her life, our father. We look forward to being reunited again with you mother and understand you got your wish to go back home.
