Earlier this month Castleview Hospital announced that Chief Financial Officer, Greg Cook would shift positions to become the new Chief Executive Officer. The CEO position became vacant in August after former CEO, Mark C. Holyoak took a new CEO position in Wilson, North Carolina.
“I’ve been at the hospital for five years as the Chief Financial Officer, worked closely with Mark. Mark has done an amazing, amazing job at the hospital – very, very big shoes to fill taking over as CEO after him,” stated Cook. “There’s something that I think we can do, I think somethings that we can tweak a little bit, we just need to continue the trajectory the hospital has been on, I think we can do that and just move forward.” Lifepoint Health has been home for about 15 years which allows him to have the familiarity and understanding of health care.
The transition to the new position thus far has been pleasant and Cook credits this to the close working relationship he had with his former CEO, “It was something that I was doing already. Mark as the previous CEO was very willing to give me opportunities to do CEO type things and so moving from CFO to CEO at this hospital has been very smooth. I really don’t feel like I do anything day to day any different than I did before.” He will continue public outreach within the community as well as looking forward to all the new challenges and developments that his new position will bring in order to continue to provide healthcare services to the community.
Prior to arriving at Castleview Hospital, Cook worked as a CFO for Salt Lake Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City, as well as at Jackson Purchase Medical Center and Bourbon Community Hospital both in Kentucky. “When an opportunity opened up to come to Castleview, I jumped on it. I’ve been here for five years, everything about a small town I enjoy. I’m an outdoors person, I like to fish and hunt and all those things that we do in small towns. It’s just a nice place to be. So small town hospitals have always appeal to me,” said Cook. He has strong ties to Utah from growing up in the Uintah Basin to graduating with his bachelor’s degree from Utah Valley University in Orem.
Community members who run into the new CEO are encouraged to congratulate him on his new position and wish him the best.
