PRICE – Utah State Eastern Head Volleyball Coach Danielle Jensen announces her 2019 recruiting class.
Jensen signed seven players in this recruiting cycle to come join her program that has won 45 games in the last three seasons and is coming off the the best season in program history.
Of the seven players, five come from the state of Utah while the other two will be coming from Las Vegas, Nevada and Farmington, New Mexico.
In this recruiting class there are several positions addressed to replace a great sophomore class from the 2018.
Jensen signed two middle blocker, two outside hitters, a right side, a setter, and a Libero in this class.
Here are the seven players who have signed letters of intent to join the Eagles in 2019.
Alyssa Simmons, 5’9, Outside Hitter
Farmington HS – La Plata, NM
Coach Jensen: “She has a great swing and reads the court the well. Alyssa also plays great defense with a lot of heart and drive.”
LangiLangi Llaisaane Mavae, 5’9, Setter
Springville HS – Springville, UT
Coach Jensen: “Saane is going to be a strong addition as a setter for our team. She has beautiful hands and is able to place that ball perfectly for our hitters. Saane will be a great leader for our team, she has a calming yet demanding way about her on the court.”
Sunny Perry, 5’8, Right Side
Springville HS – Springville, UT
Coach Jensen: “She is an amazing hitter and I cannot wait to see what she does at this level. Sunny is one of the hardest workers I have seen and when she is on the court you are drawn to her.”
Kahea Nihipali, 6’0, Middle Blocker
Shadow Ridge HS – Las Vegas, NV
Coach Jensen:”Kahea is going to be a huge addition for us in the middle. She will play an important role for us next year. Kahea is quick and smart in the middle and she will bring a solid block to our front line.”
Avery Best, 5’6, Libero
Bonneville HS – Uintah, UT
Coach Jensen: “Avery is a hard worker and can read the court so well. She is able to read the court, the hitters, and can see the play develop so well. She is ready for this level and I cannot wait to see what she does next season”.
Jenny King, 6’0, Outside Hitter
Logan HS – Logan, UT
Coach Jensen: “She has an awesome swing and can place that ball anywhere. She has a great court presence about her and is an overall leader on the court.”
Madison “Meme” Jensen, 6’5, Middle Blocker
Payson HS – Payson, UT
Coach Jensen: “I am excited to see what she can do at this level. Meme will be a big right side and middle for us. She has a great arm swing and puts up a wall when she blocks.”
In addition to these players, three other players from the state of Utah have decided to attend Utah State University Eastern and play volleyball.
Emma Ricks, 5’6, Libero
Lone Peak HS – Alpine, UT
Kennedy Poulton, 5’7, Setter/Defensive Specialist
Bountiful HS – Bountiful, UT
Samie Bryant, 5’7, Setter
Stansbury HS – Stansbury Park, UT
Last season the Eagles finished with a 17-10 overall record and a 8-2 SWAC record. They defeated three top ten teams including eventual NJCAA National Champion College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls.
