PRICE – Utah State Eastern’s Siara Roberts signed a Letter of Intent on Thursday to continue her volleyball career at Dixie State University.
After helping the Eagles complete arguably their best season in program history, Roberts will look to make the same impact in Saint George with three years of eligibility left.
“I have always loved their program and my goal coming to USU Eastern was to move on to the next level after my time here, so when Dixie offered me the opportunity, I couldn’t’t turn it down,” said Roberts.
Roberts, a Las Vegas native, said being able to play close to home was another big part of her decision to sign with the Trailblazers
In her lone season with the Eagles in 2018, Roberts finished with 70 service aces, 1060 assists, 220 digs, and 77 kills. She finished the season ranked second in service aces, 18 in assists, fourth in assists per set and second in service aces per set in the country.
“Siara was the rock of our team this year. She came in as a freshman and filled some pretty big shoes left by our previous setter. She took us to the level we needed to be at,” said USU Eastern Head Coach Danielle Jensen.
Roberts’ outstanding 2018 season earned her Region XVIII Honorable Mention honors at the Region XVIII Tournament.
I am so proud of her and so excited for what lies ahead for her. She has so much potential to do great things on and off the court,” said Jensen.
Roberts is the second player from the current USU Eastern volleyball squad to have signed with a four-year program. Sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Carter signed with Saint Martin’s last month.
The USU Eastern volleyball team went 17-10 overall and 8-2 in conference in 2018 which placed them second in the conference standings.
