The Carbon Dinos are still in search of their first Region 14 win after suffering a 71-66 loss at the hands of the Delta Rabbits Wednesday night in Price.

Despite holding a 36-30 at the end of the first half, the Dinos were unable to keep pace with the potent Delta offense. Wednesday’s loss moves Carbon to 0-3 in league play, while Delta improved to 2-1.

Carbon senior Derek Hillam led the way in the setback with 32 points and 10 rebounds. The double-double marks the third in as many region games for Hillam. Senior Collin Lewis added eight points, while Ty Anderson and Kaleb Nelson both finished with six.

Held to just seven first half points Delta junior Derek Smith scored 25 of his 32 points in the second half. Senior Jager Springer also scored 32 points to help push the Delta offense. Smith and Springer were the only two Rabbits to reach double-figures.

Carbon will have a little time to regroup before their next game on Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Steve Hodson Cancer Classic in Cedar City. That will be the first of three games in three days in Cedar City.

The Dinos (1-8, 0-3 in region) will be home again on Friday, Jan. 4 to take on Maeser Prep (4-7, 0-2 in region) a game that you can listen to on KRPX 95.3 The Peak.
