Fierce MMA and Miss Carbon County’s Outstanding Teen, Eminie Elliott are teaming up for Heart Beats for Health competition on January 5. This event is in hopes to get more individuals in the community to work on their heart health.
“A bought a month ago Eminie and her mom came and approached me and after having a conversation with them, she was really conscientious about health and fitness and providing a platform to people here in Carbon County is part of the project she is trying to complete,” said Owner/Operator of Fierce MMA, Cody Bunderson. “Her goals very much align with my goals and so we decided to come up with an event and we’re going to have a competition and have some male and female divisions in both the teen and adult and we’re going to have some pretty sweet prizes.” The cost to participate in the competition will be a donation cost of $10.00 where the proceeds will be presented to Castleview Hospital Cardiovascular Program.
Heart Health is a serious and personal topic for Miss Carbon County’s Outstanding Teen as she explains, “So when I was younger, I was diagnosed with Kawasaki which is a rare disease that attacks the blood vessels in your heart and I came through like a champ but most people usually don’t. I just think it would be really good if they can get out, get active and really know that if they get moving, they can keep their heart in good shape and they can live longer.” She also had a grandfather that suffered a heart attack that nearly took his life and now lives with a stent placed in his heart.
The event will be lively with music, food and prizes. “We’re going to be offering some killer deals from membership packages that day and portion of those proceeds from that day I think will raise a lot of money Cardiovascular Program here down at Castleview, keeping it local, which is something I know that Eminie wanted to do to definitely keep it local,” stated Bunderson. No pre-registration is required. Signups will take place prior to the start of the competition which will begin at 12:00 pm till 3:00 pm.
