The Emery Lady Spartans get to 11-0 with a convincing victory on the road in Richfield Thursday night 64-34.

Led by senior Meagan Jensen with 19 points and eight rebounds, senior Kinlee Toomer also chipped in with 17 points and eight rebounds to keep the Spartans unbeaten through the first week of the new year.

The Wildcats (4-7, 0-1 in region) were led by senior Alexa Lord with 13 and junior Jordyn Moon with 6.

The Spartans (11-0, 2-0 in region) seem to be unstoppable as they have outscored their opponents 718-403 this season. They are currently ranked first in the 3A State standings.

“The way the schedule played out I was a little bit nervous,” said head coach Lynn Tuttle. “We came back the day after New Year’s and didn’t really have a chance to prepare for Richfield or South Sevier. I was real pleased with the way the girls performed in both games.”

The Spartans will have a few days off and hit the court again next Tuesday as they go on the road to take on Manti (4-6, 0-0 in region) and then will have a home tilt against North Sanpete (1-7, 0-0 in region).

“My main concern moving into next week is not playing down to the level of the opponent we are playing,” said Tuttle. “We’ve got a few areas in our game that still need improvement. I feel like we are getting to the
point to where we were last year, but I still see bigger things for us.”
