The Emery Spartans swim team delivered a standout performance at the Cedar Invitational Friday and Saturday in Cedar City, setting the stage for the final month of the season.

Competing against a total of 13 schools from a number of classifications, the Spartans logged five top-three finishes in five separate events.

Ending with 241 points, the Emery Lady Spartans ended fourth overall in the highly competitive meet. Cedar City claimed the overall nod with a final total of 340 points. Uintah ended in second with 292, followed by Copper Hills in fourth with 268.

The Emery boys team ended sixth overall with 169 points, just missing a top five finish by 18. Cedar again ended in first with 361 points, Layton High School was second with 254.5. Mountain View, Canyon View and Grand completed the top five.

Keldon Guymon continued to impress in the pool with a first place performance in the 200 yard IM after finishing in 2:06.24. Guymon also logged a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, falling to Layton’s Trevor Ames by 0.01 seconds.

Guymon, Deegan Minchey, Asher Beagley and Parker Stilson combined efforts to record the top time in the 400 yard free relay with a time of 3:33.27. The group also ended second in the 200 yard medley relay.

Sydney Terwillegar, Haley Guymon, Kaelee Hooley and Alexis Johanson finished second in the girls 200 yard relay. Johansen, Holly Guymon and Angellena Migliori later ended third in the 400 yard free relay.
